Can dental implants replace more than one missing tooth?
Yes. A single implant can replace one tooth, and several implants can support a fixed bridge or secure a full denture. Your dentist will confirm how many implants you need at your assessment.
Does having an implant placed hurt?
The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic, so you should not feel pain while the implant is placed. Afterwards, you may have mild discomfort as you heal, comparable to a routine tooth extraction.
What happens if I do not have enough bone?
We check your bone level with an X-ray before treatment. If there is not enough to hold an implant securely, we may recommend a bone graft or an alternative technique, and we will explain both before you decide.
How long before I get my permanent tooth?
The implant needs to fuse with your jawbone first, which usually takes three to six months. Your permanent crown, bridge or denture is fitted after that. A bone graft adds time to the overall treatment.
