Root Canal Treatment (Endodontics) is needed when the nerve inside the tooth becomes infected through decay or trauma.
You may not feel any pain in the early stages of the infection. In some cases, your tooth could darken in colour. This can mean that the tooth has died or is dying.
If the root canal is left untreated, a painful abscess may develop, and the infection could spread. A tooth with dead pulp will usually have to be removed.
